In Los Cabos, book Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos in the San José del Cabo hotel zone. It is an all-ages all-inclusive with 34 Club Swim-Up Master suites that have direct pool access and club-level extras, and it is minutes from the airport. The swim-up suites take guests 13 and over only.

• Want a beach you can swim at: Hotel Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas is on El Médano, which Riu calls the best place to swim in Los Cabos. Its swim-up junior suites are adults only.
• Want your own pool: Krystal Grand Los Cabos's ocean-front Altitude swim-out suites have a private pool off the terrace.

Water Temperature and Seasons

• Los Cabos sea: about 71 °F from February to April, about 74 °F in May and June, about 78 °F in July, then about 83 °F in August and 85 °F in September.
• Los Cabos nights: January highs are about 80 °F but lows are around 55 °F, so an unheated swim-up pool can feel cool in winter mornings and evenings.
• Puerto Vallarta sea: about 75 °F from January to March and about 86 °F from August to October. The rainy season runs from mid-June to mid-October, mostly July to September.
• Hurricanes: the eastern Pacific hurricane season runs from May 15 to November 30. In Los Cabos, August and September are the wettest months.
• Whales: whales pass Cabo San Lucas in winter, and Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta advertises seasonal whale watching from the resort.

Getting to the Resorts

• Los Cabos (SJD): Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos says it is minutes from the airport. Riu puts Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas about 40 km away, or 35 to 45 minutes, and about 4.5 km from Cabo San Lucas town.
• Pacific side: Hard Rock Los Cabos is at Diamante, west of Cabo San Lucas. The hotel warns that strong currents make the ocean unsafe for swimming, so the pools are where you swim.
• Puerto Vallarta (PVR): Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta is less than 20 minutes from the airport. Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta is in the Flamingos area of Nuevo Vallarta, across the state line in Nayarit.
