How to Pay Less for a Swim-Up Room
- Look for swim-ups outside the club level. At many resorts the swim-up rooms are only in a premium club (Riu's Elite Club, H10's Privilege, Krystal's Altitude, Barceló's Premium Level), which costs more. At Riu Latino and Riu Caribe in Cancun, the swim-up rooms are ordinary room categories, not part of a club.
- Consider pool-access rooms. Grand Palladium Select Costa Mujeres has 22 Junior Suite Pool Access rooms with direct access to the pool, far more than its four swim-up suites.
- Try the Mediterranean. Crete and Antalya have swim-up and sharing-pool rooms at mid-range and budget resorts, though only from spring to fall.
- Compare with the room below. On the same dates, check the price gap between the swim-up and the next room down. If you'll be out on tours most days, the regular room may be the better deal.
